About

Joshua Scacco (M.A., Communication, Culture & Technology, Georgetown University, 2010) is currently pursuing his doctorate in Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin where he specializes in political communication, media and politics, and presidential address. He is interested in how we can better understand the impact of emerging media technologies on presidential communication and the measurable effects of these appeals on the public. His work has earned him recognition as a "Voice of Tomorrow" by the Pennsylvania Communication Association, master's thesis distinction for his research on the Saturday presidential address, and outstanding first-year doctoral student in UT-Austin's Department of Communication Studies. Josh's research has appeared at numerous conferences including the American Political Science Association's preconference on Political Communication, the Eastern Communication Association, the Southern Political Science Association, and the Midwest Political Science Association. His scholarship on the Saturday presidential address was recently published in the Journal of Electronic Media & Politics.
